12/24/2023 0 Comments Tian tao back![]() So I'd say tian relies heavily on brute strength which hinders him slightly in a technical movement like the snatch but is less important in a clean and jerk. The biggest difference is one is more technically sound but lacks the shear power the other has. Also if we look at how difficult the cleans are for yang it becomes clear that he is a snatch specialist where tian is a clean and jerk specialist. So in short yang can turn over the bar and apply upward force into the bar faster than tian can. Yang has more body massage making it easier for him to drive the weight up and keep him out of the hole. When he sinks into a squat completely he fails the lift. ![]() Tian relies heavily on a strong pull and catching the weight above his bottom position. The biggest difference I see in the snatch is size and power. His cleans look about as easy if not easier than yangs. So what I can see is tian has stronger legs than yang. I took a few minutes to look over 6 of their lifts each. If you believe you have an injury, the safest course of action is to consult a professional. Who knows if we’ll ever see him attempt something in that range in competition?įeatured image via yangyang7878 on Instagram.Attention! Please read the Sidebar/FAQ before posting ![]() Last year, we saw Tao fail a 230kg clean & jerk in training. ![]() Tao managed the lift after an easy squat double of 300 kilograms, which is also in the video below. (The lift isn’t “official” as it didn’t take place in international competition.)īut earlier that same month, we saw a 225-kilogram (496-pound) lift in training, which is 5 kilograms heavier than Kianoush Rostami’s world record. Take a look at this clip of a mammoth clean & jerk of 221 kilograms (487.2 pounds) from the 2017 Chinese National Weightlifting Championships in April. Unofficially, however, his PRs are even higher. Tao currently holds the Olympic record in the clean & jerk for his weight class, having managed a 217-kilogram (478-pound) lift at the Rio Olympics. Tao’s squat is 15kg below the -93kg world record squat (set by David Ricks earlier this year) but Tao is probably much lighter than that right now and he’s not even wearing a belt.Īnd let’s be honest, that squat looked pretty… well, it wouldn’t be fair to say easy, but it definitely looked like he could have pulled off a weight of five or ten kilograms heavier.Īfter all, it wasn’t too long ago that we saw Tian Tao pull off a pause squat of 300 kilograms. A post shared by Yang Yang competes in the -85kg weight class, and it’s definitely worth pointing out that this if he walked into a powerlifting meet, this lift would be 12 kilograms (26.5 pounds) heavier than the -83kg world record that was set by the American John Haack at last year’s IPF Classic Powerlifting Championships. ![]()
